Why Learn Hindi?
Hindi is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world, with approximately 600 million speakers when counting both native speakers and those who use it as a second language across India. It is the official language of the Indian government alongside English, and serves as a lingua franca connecting speakers of India's hundreds of regional languages. India's rapidly growing economy — now the world's fifth largest — makes Hindi an increasingly strategic language for business, technology, and international trade.
Hindi is written in Devanagari, a script also shared by Sanskrit, Marathi, and Nepali. Devanagari is an abugida: consonants carry an inherent vowel sound, and vowel marks modify that sound. While the script looks complex at first, it is highly systematic and phonetically consistent — once you learn the letters, spelling and pronunciation are largely predictable. MindCards A1 vocabulary for Hindi introduces high-frequency words alongside their Devanagari script, so you build reading skills in parallel with your vocabulary from the very first session.
